Obi, usually about a foot wide with gorgeous embroidery, is tightly wound and tied on the back to serve as a decorative finish for a kimono. Our company name, Obi Obi, comes from the traditional Japanese Obi (not Obi-Wan), but we say it twice to add a new look for traditional Obi from Japan.
We use old obi and kimono to make table runners, pillows and home decorations to suggest how Japanese traditional fabrics could be perfectly matched with a Western lifestyle. Still, our products, which have an Asian inspiration and magnificent old fabrics, are great conversation pieces.
Most of our products are unique and handcrafted, made from carefully selected kimono and obi fabrics from the Taisho and Showa eras (1920–1950). |
